Intralogistics
Intralogistic is used to mean the in-house flow of material. This includes all transportation tasks between delivery of the goods to the loading ramp right up until the transportation for assembly/to the sales area.
Warehouse management systems
Warehouse management systems (WMS) use the cross-company provision of information to ensure that goods and information are in the right place at the right time. The intelligent WMS of STILL - a subsidiary of the KION Group - is used to ensure a trouble-free material flow within the supply chain, from the simple transport management system to the active supply chain management, across company borders. This means that the vehicles are an active part of the supply chain.
The technical equipment of the vehicles, from the current barcode technology to RFID technology, therefore brings added value for the entire supply chain because it makes the handling of goods considerably easier. Via radio frequency identification (RFID), data can be read and saved without contact and without being seen. RFID complements existing instruments, such as the inventory management and forklift control systems.
The use of RFID for intelligent loading equipment and for the identification of storage locations and transfer stations will lead to more streamlined intralogistic processes in the long term. Through STILL the KION Group is playing an active part in the RFID research in the IdentProLog project.
