The ground-breaking ceremony for the new plant has already taken place at KION’s Indian production site in Pune, in the state of Maharashtra. The 94,000 square meter site will incorporate a cutting-edge industrial truck production facility, a research and development center, and a training center for service personnel. Space for future growth of Dematic in India is also planned. The expansion is set to create around 100 additional jobs at KION India.

The KION Group has had a presence in India’s intralogistics market since 2011. KION India has been the leading forklift truck and warehouse technology vendor in this emerging market through sales of its brand companies OM and OM Voltas. In addition to OM and OM Voltas products, KION India also sells industrial trucks, warehouse technology, and services from Baoli and Linde. This enables it to serve the premium, value, and economy segments. Over recent months, it has also launched supply chain solutions from Dematic on the Indian market.

Along with its own production facility, KION also has a network of more than 40 branches and dealerships for sales and service, represented in over 100 outlets across the country. “The new state-of-the-art plant and R&D center will allow us to better serve our customers in the rapidly expanding Indian market,” says Eike Böhm, Chief Technology Officer and member of the Executive Board of KION GROUP AG.

KION India currently employs around 400 people, and will continue to focus on its staff: “Our current workforce and the over 100 new employees will benefit from a state-of-the-art working environment, and the new research and development center and the market launch of Dematic will open up further opportunities,” says Sunil Gupta, President of KION India.
