KION Group extends its Executive Board

  • Chief Asia Pacific Officer role created
  • CEOs of the Linde Material Handling and STILL brand companies  also appointed to the KION Executive Board

Wiesbaden, 11 January 2013 - To document the growing importance of Asia Pacific to KION's global operations, the Supervisory Board of KION Group GmbH has created the new Executive Board position of Chief Asia Pacific Officer. This new position will be filled by Ching Pong Quek (45). Mr Quek has been CEO of Linde (China) Forklift Truck Corp., Ltd. since 2005 and has also been President & CEO for KION's entire Asia business since 2008. The Supervisory Board appointed him as a member of KION Group's Executive Board with effect from 11 January 2013. He will take on this new role in addition to his existing responsibilities.

In a further move, the existing Linde and STILL brand management will be more involved in direct responsibility for the KION Group as a whole. The CEO of Linde Material Handling GmbH, Theodor Maurer (53), and the CEO of STILL GmbH, Bert-Jan Knoef (52), have been appointed to the Executive Board of the KION Group with effect from 11 January 2013. They will continue to be in charge of their respective brand companies.

Gordon Riske (55) continues as Chief Executive Officer of the KION Group, heading up the expanded, five-strong Executive Board. KION Group's Chief Financial Officer, Dr Thomas Toepfer (40), has also been appointed Labor Relations Director by the Supervisory Board. Klaus Hofer (55), who has been the Executive Board member responsible for Human Resources until now, is leaving the company. The Supervisory Board would like to thank Klaus Hofer for his work and for the significant contribution he has made to the global advancement of human resources activities in the KION Group.

The KION Group - comprising the six brands Linde, STILL, Fenwick, OM STILL, Baoli and Voltas - is Europe's market leader in industrial trucks, the global number two in the industry and the leading international supplier in China. The Linde and STILL brands serve the premium segment worldwide. Fenwick is the largest supplier of material handling products in France, while OM STILL is a market leader in Italy. The Baoli brand focuses on the economy segment, and Voltas is one of the two market leaders in India. The KION Group employed roughly 22,000 people and generated revenue of around EUR4.4 billion in 2011.
