Web analysis by Matomo (formerly Piwik)

For statistical analyses of user access behavior, we use the open source web-analysis tool Matomo (formerly Piwik) – provided by InnoCraft Ltd., 150 Willis St, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand – on certain pages of our websites, especially those containing the online versions of our annual and quarterly reports.

The following data is stored when users access such individual pages:

The software is operated only on our website servers. Personal data of website users is stored only there.

The software is configured in such a way that the IP address is not stored in full. Instead, two bytes of the IP address are anonymized (e.g. 192.168.xxx.xxx). It is not possible to identify the device that accessed the website based on this anonymized IP address.

The legal basis for the processing of website users' personal data is Article 6 (1) f GDPR.

The purpose of this processing activity is to perform statistical analyses of user access figures with the aim of improving our website. The data we collect in this way provides us with information on how visitors use individual pages of our website, which helps us to optimize our online offering on an ongoing basis. These purposes also constitute our legitimate interest in relation to this processing activity pursuant to Article 6 (1) f GDPR.

We also use cookies for the same purpose, i.e. for statistical analyses of user access figures. These cookies enable us to create pseudonomized usage profiles (for information on cookies, see point 3.4 above). The legal basis for this form of personal data processing is also Article 6 (1) f GDPR. These processing purposes also constitute our legitimate interest.

All data is erased as soon as it is no longer required for analytical purposes.

If you do wish your data to be processed in this way, you are free to object to this processing activity at any time. To do so, you can obtain an opt-out cookie from Matomo via the link provided below. The opt-out cookie ensures that data on your usage of our website will no longer be processed.
Please do not delete this cookie for as long as you wish your objection to the processing to remain valid.

For further information on the use of Matomo, please refer to the privacy policy of Matomo.

4. Integration of third-party services and content

4.1. External links

We are an agile company and so it is important to us to be present and available to our customers wherever they spend their time. Social media links to LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter have therefore been embedded on our website. The logos of these social media platforms will help you identify the links to the websites of the social media services on our website.

If you click on one of these social media links, you will be redirected to the corporate profile of KION GROUP AG on the corresponding social media platform. The processing of personal data by the relevant social media provider begins only at this point in time. For information on how your personal data is processed when you use the websites of these social media providers, please refer to the data protection information made available by the provider in question.

4.2. Use of other active elements

Our website contains integrated active elements such as JavaScript and ActiveX, as well as other control elements and script languages that include active components. If you have any security concerns, you can disable these elements in your browser settings at any time. Our website is also navigable without JavaScript.

You are a data subject within the meaning of Article 4 (1) GDPR if your personal data is processed on this website. As a data subject, you have the following rights in relation to the controller:

6. Right to object

If your personal data is processed by us based on a legitimate interest pursuant to Article 6 (1) f GDPR, you have the right to object to this processing of your personal data pursuant to Article 21 GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation or if the processing activity you wish to object to is performed for direct marketing purposes. In the latter case, your right to object is unconditional and your request must be carried out by us without any need for you to provide a specific reason. If you wish to object, you can simply send an email to

7. Data security

The KION GROUP AG continuously implements appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data comprehensively against manipulation, partial or total loss, and unauthorized access by third parties. We improve our security measures on an ongoing basis to keep in step with technological advances.

In addition to securing our premises and systems, we also use an encryption method on this website. This means that any personal data transmitted by you, including your payment details, will be sent using the generally accepted and safe SSL (secure socket layer) protocol in order to prevent any misuse of your data by third parties. SSL is a secure and tried-and-tested standard that is also used for purposes such as online banking. One way of finding out if you are using a secure SSL connection is to check whether the lock symbol in the status bar of your browser displays a closed lock and whether the URL in the address bar begins with 'https'.

Notwithstanding the above, we would like to stress that web-based data transmissions can never be considered completely secure (e.g. email correspondence) and that we are therefore unable to provide any absolute guarantee in relation to the protection of your data against unauthorized access by third parties.
