KION Group is shaping the Future at LogiMAT 2024

For three days from March 19–21, 2024, Stuttgart will become the capital of material handling as the intralogistics industry comes to the city for the LogiMAT trade fair. All KION Group brands will be in attendance, showcasing a wide range of solutions to cover all of our customers’ requirements across a variety of industries. STILL provides scalable automation solutions, Dematic offers software and AMRs to help simplify complex processes, Baoli offers cost-effective entry-level vehicles, and Linde Material Handling demonstrates, among other things, how to customize automated workflows.

What happens when Europe’s intralogistics elite meet up for an exhibition? Anyone who has ever visited LogiMAT in Stuttgart before knows the answer: The first thing that most people notice is how noisy it is! With shuttles traveling back and forth, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) driving pallets from A to B, and plenty of people speaking on the microphone, it can be hard to hear yourself think. The site is a hive of activity, with thousands of visitors streaming through the corridors and halls from one stand to the next, keeping an eye out for the most impressive and surprising innovations. This year, two of the halls (1 and 10) will be dominated by KION Group brands, with all of our subsidiaries on site showcasing their innovations.

STILL Booth has had a lot of interested visitors.

STILL: Paving the Way for Smart Intralogistics

STILL will be unveiling its vision for the future of intralogistics at stands B40 and B41 in hall 10, placing a strong focus on automation and future-oriented energy systems. The spotlight here will be mainly on the scalability of the solutions, which ranges from the easy-to-implement iGo easy plug & play solution for individual logistics transport processes through to highly customizable applications for the iGo system. In two live scenarios, the experts from STILL show what both solutions could look like in practice. The iGo easy scenario will feature a unique intuitive commissioning tool, which trade fair visitors will even have the chance to try out for themselves.

Another highlight of the exhibition will be the unveiling of our very first 24-volt fuel cell system produced in-house. STILL is the only manufacturer in the intralogistics industry to date to manufacture its own fuel cell systems and offer the option of integrating them into its trucks. “As a pioneer in the intralogistics industry, we see it as our responsibility to take bold and consistent action to drive the energy transition. Developing green hydrogen technology as an emission-free and resource-saving drive system plays a key role in this,” says Jan-Christoph Sachse, Senior Director Marketing & Brand Communications at STILL. “In order to make the topic of hydrogen attractive to smaller companies too, customers have had the option, for example, of trialing the STILL fuel cell system as a rental solution with a mobile hydrogen filling station for four weeks since the start of 2024.”

Dematic: Visions for the Warehouse of the Future

Dematic will be exhibiting in two halls at the same time this year: In hall 10, KION Group’s supply chain brand will be appearing alongside its sister brands from the forklift segment. At Stand H61 in hall 1, Dematic will showcasing its innovations under the motto “Solved: Your Ambition. Our Mission.” Gunter Van Deun, Head of Marketing, Communication and Business Development at Dematic EMEA, explains the slogan: “It’s easy to understand: Every customer has ambitions and individual growth and change goals for their business. Working with a reliable partner like Dematic helps them to make these visions a reality.” In other words, it’s about the big picture—the warehouse as an optimized microcosm.

One particular highlight on display will be the bin-to-picker AMR solution, which seamlessly integrates autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) into warehouse logistics, aided by state-of-the-art software. Despite the complex processes involved, this radically simplifies the intralogistics microcosm as the AMRs perform automatic removal and storage of containers from a high-bay warehouse. Visitors will also be impressed by a demonstration of live drone inspection and thermology check processes. Applications like this look set to revolutionize the maintenance and servicing of storage systems in the future.

Baoli: Reliability and Profitability in Focus

Baoli will be located in hall 10, stand C57, presenting its solutions under the clear slogan: “We make material handling simple.” Focusing on the core aspects of profitability and reliability, the brand will showcase three new truck models at the trade fair: the KBE 18-35 electric forklift series, the KBR 14-20 reach trucks, and the KBD/G 25-35 internal combustion engine forklifts.

All models have two main advantages: cost efficiency and low maintenance. For Francesco Pampuri, Brand Management Director at Baoli EMEA, value for money is key: “Visitors to our booth can see for themselves how we are simplifying material handling choices for customers who depend on reliable, easy-to-use, and low-maintenance forklifts for their daily work,” he explains. “Our international team of experts will be on hand at the stand to provide advice to current and prospective customers, and dealers.”

At Linde MH, interested visitors were able to put the forklifts through their paces directly on the course in front of the hall and put their own driving skills to the test.

Linde MH: Tailored Solutions for Maximum Performance

KION brand Linde Material Handling (MH) will also be exhibiting at two stands (B21 and B17) in hall 10. The company will be demonstrating a wide range of automation solutions, energy options, and safety features in an exhibition space covering 550 m2 indoors and 570 m2 outdoors.

Visitors will also have the chance to walk through a live automation demonstration via a passage and a glass bridge, and experience the action up close. The demo will include five automated trucks, ranging in size from a small AMR to a large reach truck, performing their tasks with clockwork precision and high levels of endurance. The highlight of the automation scenario is a near-series concept study with an ultra-compact design. Linde MH’s promise: We can provide a custom solution for all customer requirements.

The fact that Linde MH also plays a leading role in the areas of energy efficiency, zero emissions, and safety is demonstrated, among other things, by the X-series electric counterbalanced trucks—visitors will even have the chance to test drive them themselves in the courtyard between two exhibition halls. “The Linde MH brand stands for premium performance in goods handling. We achieve this with innovative products and solutions, a high level of user-friendliness, a large number of active and passive safety and assistance systems, tailor-made custom solutions, and the comprehensive consulting expertise of our sales organization,” explains Torsten Rochelmeyer, Senior Director Strategy & Solution Portfolio at Linde MH. This high productivity is particularly important for the demanding applications in the beverage, building materials, wood, and chemical industries.
